Make Fresh Caramel Popcorn in Under 5 Minutes

Do you ever crave that old cinema classic, caramel popcorn, at home? Well, with this video, you can learn how to make the yummy treat in less than 5 minutes! Throw some nuts in there and you have your very own homemade version of Cracker Jack! Enjoy, and don't forget the napkins - things can get pretty sticky!

You Will Need:

  • 1 bag of microwaveable popcorn
  • 2 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 handful of peanuts

Step 1: Pop Your Popcorn

Microwave the popcorn according to the directions on the bag, then put half of the popcorn in a medium sized bowl.

Step 2: Make Your Topping

While the popcorn is popping, put the sugar, water, and butter into a small non-stick sauce pan. Stir on high heat until the mixture starts to turn brown, then reduce to medium heat. Wait until the mixture caramelizes, then stir in peanuts.

Step 3: Mix Together

Once the mixture has completely caramelized, pour half over the popcorn and mix together. Then pour the remainder of the popcorn on top, as well as the remaining mixture and mix together.

CAUTION: The caramel will be very hot. Please wait a few minutes before indulging.

I followed the instructions and I think i got toffee pop corn. But it still tasted great. It took a long time to go brown but I thought it said high heat util bubble and then medium so I had it on medium stirring constantly until i brought the computer over to stove and checked instructions then I turned it up. It went brown and then I waited a bit longer to caramelise which i didn't really know what that was but I thought id know it when I saw it haha. It started to smell strongly maybe of caramel or toffee so I took it off as I thought it might burn. I poured on top and it was very think and when I tried to stir I got very thin stir strings and the popcorn just bunched together and started breaking haha. it was crunchy but still delicious. After making it i watched the video and next time ill only cook for 5 minutes max and hopefully it wont cook too much. By brown im guessing it will change colour slightly to yellow and still be very bubbly. mine was thick and deep caramel colour.
